I bought these & they were very easy to install, all the hardware was there & everything worked. However; when I tightened down the outer housings allen screw one of them just popped right through the housing with hardly any pressure. I know it was a flaw in the casting (too thin)in that spot because I had a torque wrench & none of the others had that happen. Now my wifes Trooper has a hole in the hub for water to enter so I will have to inspect inside it often. Aisin hubs are far superior to these Superwinch hubs but the price reflects that. If Superwinch would build these with a milled cap instead of a (poorly) cast one they'd be great.

The quality of the mount was very good. There were a lot of bolt holes...too many. The product had about 16 bolt holes, but were missing ones that lined up with the bolt holes that mounted the roller fairlead plate to the mounting plate. I would have liked to run bolts right through both plates to the winch, but compromised by using washers. It turned out great, and am pleased with how easy everything mounted together, but I wish they had drilled two more holes in the mounting bracket. It is a heavy, solid piece of metal that will hold up to anything.

I'm picky when it comes to spending my money and so I don't buy products made in China if I can help it. Not when there is an American made option.



For the price of this item, you can get an American made Warn receiver shackle.



If being made in China doesn't matter to you then you can still save money by buying this very same Chinese made receiver shackle under another brand name.

I purchased this Superwinch reciever shackle bracket for use with my 4Runner. I haven't used it much, but I bought it as an easy attachment point during for recoveries or for pulling trees and logs. Overall quality looks decent. I'm sure it's plenty strong. The bracket is cast and it is hollow. Unlike Superwinch's picture, there are a lot of casting marks and marks from where they ground the casting seams off. The units they sell now have a glossy finish compared to the flat finish in the pic. The bow shackle pin is also galvanized, not painted red.

The finish is a big dissapointment. When I recieved the product it already had a couple of chips in the paint. I thought it wasn't a big deal because it's going to get chipped anyway. Well, after just handling it, putting it in my toolbox, then putting it in my hitch reciever it has developed a lot of chips that rust quickly. What a poor finish...

I did find out that the bracket, without shackle installed, makes a good tie down point in the rear of my 4Runner to tie down kayaks. Definately a helpful thing.

Overall I'd say it's a good unit, just expect the paint to chip off easily. If I could do it again I'd get the Warn because the bracket is galvanized and should not rust easily.

This was the best value deal I could find and I am happy with the product. It was straight forward to put together and my Champion winch fit just fine. I did have to drill new holes to mount my roller assembly.

It is solid and heavy. Keep in mind the weight of your winch as well as this metal cradle. I can lift it all assembled, but I'd hate to do so in a precarious position. If you can barely lift your winch, you might consider a permanent mount.
